In 2020, so many of us were seeking a way to build and maintain community in a safe way. With this in mind, Preston Trail developed their Balloon Glow event that created an interactive family-friendly event that still provided the ability to socially distance and maintain proper boundaries for the community. After working the 2020 balloon glow as a volunteer, the team at Preston Trail Mckinney asked me to produce the event in 2021 as the event had grown to need larger production elements. The event featured multiple grounded hot air balloons that could serve as a photo op but also created visual entertainment as it integrated with music.

The event also included many food trucks, inflatable games, photo booths, and a large raffle experience. As the producer, I managed the DJ and host for the entirety of the event, communicating with staff to announce raffle winners, and working with the hot air balloon staff to run the integrated light and music experience. With hot air balloons, the wind plays a large piece in when and if the balloons can be inflated and as that element is quite unpredictable, I maintained constant communication with both event staff and balloon staff to continually keep guests entertained and provide a seamless experience.
