Palo Duro Canyon Styled Shoot

What started out as a dessert boho themed photo and film shoot turned into one of my favorite moments I’ve experienced as an event planner. My friends Jess and Doz wanted to take a trip to Amarillo for this shoot and I was so glad to work with two of them and bring this design to life. It began as a “staged” elopement ceremony featuring two dear friends of ours and styled picnic in the stunning Palo Duro Canyon. As we planned and prepared for the trip to Amarillo, the couple decided to use this time to renew their vows and have the intimate wedding ceremony they always wanted. Having gotten married three years prior with a large traditional occasion, this intimate ceremony with a stunning view became one of their most cherished memories as a couple. Having all known each other as friends for over a decade, we all cherished the time to honor the truest of loves and give them the space to renew that love together.

Outside of the emotional impact, the day also included long hikes with gear and props and only prosecco and macaroons as nourishment along the way. We leaned into the views surrounding us and used a warm toned palette to set the scene for the intimate picnic. The table was constructed from scratch to allow for a more custom look and we paired it with patterned rugs and large pillows to bring some cozy vibes to the outdoor setting. The table featured stone-textured dinnerware and linens that complimented the color of the clay surrounding us.

With smaller details including broken clay place cards and plenty of candles and lanterns, the tablescape complimented the relaxed and “at home” feeling that accompanied this sweet couple.
While we may have had to fight the canyon winds for both the photographers and videographer the entirety of the afternoon, it was a small price to pay for the sweetest sunset ceremony in the evening. And as the moon rose over the canyon and we made the hike back to the car, we all found ourselves content with exhaustion and ready for a good margarita to round out the celebration.
