High Def Student Conference brought in hundreds of students to Preston Trail Student Ministry for a weekend focused on building community, creating memories, and sharing the message of Jesus . In 2018, their vision was “More Jesus”, which translated into helping students understand how to bring their relationship with Jesus into every avenue of their life. I served as the production director for the months of planning ahead of the event and for the multi-day conference. I worked closely with the production team on staff at Preston Trail to plan creative and engaging content for students ranging from sixth to twelfth grade.

When it came to show week, I managed all rehearsals for hosts, musicians, and speakers and casted vision for the entire production and worship team for the entire weekend. We planned a unique opener for the first session of the weekend that included a kabuki screen drop, an elevated worship experience, and intricate lighting design that required multiple stage hands, extensive communication, and focused rehearsal moments.

With multiple sessions and a unique interactive game for each one, we combined set design, lighting design, and graphic elements to give the students a memorable experience. The conference featured multiple speakers including Ryan Young of the Dallas Cowboys and Garrett Davis with FOCUS ministries. I managed their individual production needs and slide support for the entirety of the weekend and integrated their messages into each session seamlessly. While managing the creative energy of the event, I also balanced the structural timeline for the entire weekend and kept the show running on schedule alongside the ministry staff to ensure that external elements were never compromised. With a solid relationship to most of the Preston Trail team, I was able to anticipate their needs and desires and provide a calming presence to a busy, complex event.
